Pearls & Shells

 rough striated sharp edges of the shell
scent of the ocean & caress of the waves
Impressed for millennia in its taupe oval shape
a tiny abrasion, an affliction that hurts & rubs raw
the tender flesh within
 the juice and the balm 
formed to soothe & to heal the pain 
becomes a gem
a pearl
her round smooth glow
becoming a necklace or earrings
one eternal round of celestial worth
